Advanced Practitioners at Woodcroft Vets!

We are delighted to announce that eight of our veterinary surgeons have recently been awarded ‘Advanced Practitioner’ status by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons: the official body that regulates the veterinary profession. This new accreditation system for practising veterinary surgeons was earned by fewer than 350 small animal clinicians, out of thousands, across the UK.

The aim of this RCVS ‘Advanced Practitioner’ status is to highlight certain veterinary surgeons, with advanced knowledge and experience in a designated area of veterinary practice, to pet owners. These veterinary surgeons have undertaken additional, more advanced training, examinations and qualifications in a particular medical discipline. The eight RCVS Advanced Practitioners at Woodcroft Vets are some of the very few veterinary surgeons to have met the required criteria in the Stockport area.

We have RCVS Advanced Practitioners servicing the following medical disciplines: orthopaedics, cardiology, dermatology, ophthalmology, internal medicine, small animal surgery and most recently – emergency & critical care. These services compliment our consultant veterinary surgeons in behaviour and dentistry.

Our Advanced Practitioners work along side our own team of experienced and caring first opinion and emergency veterinary surgeons & nurses. When a case becomes complex, our vets may refer your pet to one of the Advanced Practitioners just like your GP may refer you to a consultant at a local hospital. This enables us to offer a range of medical and surgical skill sets beyond that normally offered by most veterinary practices without the need for travel to other remote referral practices: peace of mind that your pets are receiving the highest standards of care from staff members with the most experience within a particular discipline. To support this additional expertise we are amongst the best equipped private practices in the UK: from blood pressure to blood transfusion, CT scanning to cataract surgery and digital radiography to Doppler ultrasound, we are able to offer the best medical therapy to all of our registered patients.

Finally, by being registered with Woodcroft Vets for routine services such as annual vaccination, our clients can benefit from this gold standard ‘Referral’ service at a reduced cost.

If you have any questions about how to book an appointment with one of our advanced practitioners or you would simply like more information, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Our referral leaflet is also available to download.
