Information for referring veterinary surgeons

How to arrange a referral?

Referring a case to Woodcroft Referrals couldn`t be simpler. Please, either fill in the Case Referral Form and  fax to us on 0161 486 6156 or complete an online submission form or contact a member of our experienced team using the numbers & emails listed below:

  • Phone 0161 486 2333 our dedicated referral number, for cardiorespiratory, surgery (inc. laparoscopy), internal medicine, ophthalmology, dermatology and behaviour cases.
  • Phone 0161 485 8444 for orthopaedic cases and those requiring hydrotherapy.
  • Phone 01625 533654 for dental surgery cases.

Once we have your client’s contact details we will contact them and arrange a suitable appointment. Please indicate if you require an urgent referral to avoid unnecessary delays. We will provide an estimate for the consultation fee and help all clients in any way we can e.g. travel directions etc. You can also make an appointment on behalf of your client or you can ask your client to phone us direct. If possible, please give your client a copy of the owner information sheet.

We require full payment of fees at the time of the consultation or on collection following a procedure. If your client’s animal is insured please remind them to bring all the policy documents with them. Direct claims can be arranged, but ask us for more information including our terms & conditions.

For emergency cases

Our main veterinary hospital in Cheadle Hulme is open 7 days a week and is staffed with vets and qualified veterinary nurses throughout the night. For emergency cases the duty vet can always be contacted. If necessary the appropriate referral clinician will be contacted and an emergency referral appointment arranged.

Referral letter

Please fax, post or email the referral submission form or a referral letter when first making the appointment.

Diagnostic test results

Please ensure that your client brings with them to the appointment any relevant radiographs, scans, ECGs, laboratory reports etc. This will avoid any unnecessary repetition of work.

Follow up

We welcome follow up case progress from either your client or from your practice. We are happy to offer ongoing telephone advice.
